I don’t get it. At all. I am an avid shopper and cannot figure out the appeal of online shopping. How many times have you walked into a store, took an item to the fitting room, tried it on and it fit perfectly, and then purchased it? When I go shopping, I try on at least 10 different things before finding one thing that works for me. Sometimes, I find nothing…and then I go to the shoe department. I have purchased one item online that actually fit me, sort of. It was this great pair of wool pants that I loved and had to have. Once I received them, I had to get the snap replaced (it arrived broken), had to have them hemmed (2 feet too long), and had to have the waist band lined (itchy itchy itchy). When all was said and done, my bargain $65 pants had turned into a pair of $110 pants. I have a friend that orders things online all the time only to be completely disappointed when they don’t fit her. Yet, she still keeps on trying. I commend her perseverance but don’t understand why she does it. The amount of time she spends online searching out clothing, waiting for them to arrive, trying them on, and then returning them (either via the mail or to the store, if she returns them at all) amazes me. If she would just take an afternoon to shop for the items on her wish list at an actual store, she would save herself a lot of time and energy and frustration. I personally enjoy the instant gratification of buying that fabulous new dress and being able to wear it out that night, not 4 weeks from now when it arrives in the mail (if indeed it does fit). Maybe I’m just out of the online shopping loop but I know I like the hands on experience of actually shopping in a “real” store.
Tina’s Tip: Get out from behind that computer and take a trip to the mall or your favorite boutique. Set aside an afternoon (by yourself or with a girlfriend) when there are no time restraints so you can easily shop without distraction. Try everything on! That is the key to finding clothing that will make you look and feel your best. If you get stuck- go to the shoe department. Shoes have a way of making you feel sexy in an instant.
